Jacob uses almost identical words as Nephi uses in applying the book of Isaiah to his teachings. He writes: "And now, the words which I shall read are they which Isaiah spake concerning all the house of Israel; wherefore, they may be likened unto you, for ye are of the house of Israel. And there are many things which have been spoken by Isaiah which may be likened unto you, because ye are of the house of Israel." (2 Nephi 6:5, emphasis added.) The Isaiah materials are important to us. No matter how scholars, theologians, or ministers may read or interpret them, they apply to us, now. Remember Isaiah's words are used to express Nephi's and Jacob's intentions, and as a result, they become directly applicable to us. The words must be viewed within a Nephite and Jacobian intention. The words of these prophecies support Nephi's teachings. This is why he adopts them as his own.
